Ben è con un gruppo di amici a New Orleans, mentre in città si festeggia il Martedì Grasso. L'aria divertita e euforica delle strade non fa però al caso di Ben, giù di morale per essere stato lasciato dalla ragazza. Così insieme al suo amico Morgan decidono di allontanarsi dal centro ed imbarcarsi in un tour delle vicine paludi, che la leggenda vuole siano infestate da misteriose presenze. Giunti nella vicinanza della palude, la guida turista e traghettatore incomincia a raccontare al gruppo di turisti la leggenda di Victor Crowley, uno spirito che infesta questi posti remoti, orribilmente deforme, morto una notte di Halloween, ucciso per sbaglio da un'accetta da suo padre.
